Overview

Tour Details

It is particularly interesting to visit Djibouti, Somaliland, and South Sudan in the Horn of Africa and Eas Africa combined. Somaliland, which does not exist, and Djibouti, one of the smallest countries on the continent. South Sudan is the newest nation in Africa.

Our journey begins in the former French colony of Somalia, now known as Djibouti. Despite being a very small country, Djibouti has some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. Lac Abbe and Lac Assal are two of the most picturesque lakes in the region due to their salt and sulfur content.

As a final point, we will have been able to visit not one, but two ethnic groups in South Sudan. It will be an amazing experience to meet warm local tribes and to see some of the most incredible things that most foreigners have never seen before.

Visit the caves of Laas Geel, where rock art dating back more than 5,000 years has been found – one of the most well-preserved examples of rock art in Africa, and a highlight of the journey. A French team led by Xavier Gutherz discovered the site in 2002 during their study of the origins of pastoralism in the Horn of Africa. Along with the paintings, lithic tools were found scattered throughout the site, and there are many tombs marked with stelae and mounds in the nearby area.

There are approximately 20 rock shelters with paintings, the largest of which measures approximately 10 meters in length. Most of them appear to be humpless cows with curved or lyre-like white horns (sometimes with reddish tips) and marked udders.
