Welcome to Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia, located in the coastal region of the Somali sea – it is the nation’s most populous city with a population of over two million people as of 2017. Known locally as Xamar, it was once a popular tourist destination before its conflicts and wars, but the city is slowly rebuilding to get back to its peak.
3 Hours Before Flight Time
Pick up at the airport and our representatives will assist you with obtaining your visa on arrival and take you to your guesthouse for a briefing. Afterwards, you’ll go on an orientation tour around the city, including an opportunity to swim at Lido beach, walk through the ruined Italian colonial architecture and see the monument to the unknown soldier. You will have a chance to use the security team’s experience and that of a local fixer who has worked with several journalists to get an insight into life in Mogadishu today. (LD)
Once again, armed with your security team and fixer you’ll be able to visit the markets, bazaars, and beaches of this traumatised yet vibrant city. This will include the harbour and lighthouse area. (BLD)
Your security escort will drop you at the airport to catch your flight. No sightseeing on the final day. (B)

As a company approximately 70% of our clients are solo travellers, so it’s very unlikely you’ll be alone!
Our prices are typically based on twin-share accommodation but single supplements are not compulsory for our tours. If you prefer not to pay a single supplement we’ll pair you with someone else of the same sex for you to share with throughout the trip.
On this trip, if you do opt to pay for a single supplement then please note that it will cover you for all nights of the tour/ including all camping nights, when you would get your own tent/all nights apart from Udaipur due to the limited number of rooms available there.
Please note that paying a single supplement entitles you to lone occupancy of a single room. In many cases these rooms will be of the same size as a double/twin room, but in some cases they may be smaller.
Payment for the tour is a fundamental part of the tour’s income and contributes to the overall cost of equipment, running costs, staffing, administration, etc. As the Company will have incurred the majority of its costs before the tour starts, we need to impose cancellation charges to cover these costs. However, 10% deposits are non-refundable. If you cancel your booking.
A letter of invitation will be issued and the visa collected at Mogadishu airport. The visa costs US$50 (payable in US$).
Regarding flights, We suggest booking Turkish Airways and Ethiopian Airlines to Mogadishu.

The accommodation is in a secure Hotel. You will have a private room with wifi.
When outside of the guest house you will be accompanied by a security detail with two vehicles complete with local fixer/translator. This is to ensure your security and to enable you to safely visit the areas you wish with informed and detailed information on what you are seeing.
Trips to Somalia do create dangers all of their own and whilst we want you to have as much freedom as possible we must state that the security team have the final word with regards to changes in the itinerary for safety reasons. Whilst security has improved recently in Mogadishu and deterioration to security could result in the cancellation of all or parts of the trip at short notice.

Long-sleeved blouses or shirts are required and preferably long skirts, although loose-fitting trousers may also work. Islamic long coats, ‘manteaux’, would not be necessary.
