Itinerary

Day 1:Addis Ababa - Bahir Dar

The first thing you should do after flying from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar is to visit the market in Bahir Dar, where you will find pottery, handwoven clothing, and woven baskets. On Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile, ancient island monasteries can be visited by boat tour.

Visit ancient monasteries (built from the 14th to the 19th century). We will visit only the most accessible and representative of the monasteries on the lake that still serve their original purpose: Ura Kidane Mehret, Azwa Maryam (in the Zeghie Peninsula), Kibran Gabriel (prohibited for women) and Entos Eyesus. Overnight in Bahar Dar at Win hotel or similar.

Day 2:Bahir Dar - Gondor

During the drive to Gondar, you will pass through rural areas. Take a tour of the Royal Enclosure, a UNESCO World Heritage site that features five castles built by successive Ethiopian kings beginning in the early 17th century. After surviving several wars, including air raids during World War II, the castles serve as a testament to the resilience of this once mighty African empire.

Take a tour of the church of Debre Birhan Selassie, which is renowned for its religious art and especially for its iconic ceiling depicting angels. Overnight in Gondar at your assigned hotel.

Day 3:Gondar - Simien Mountains National Park - Addis

Upon arrival at Sankabar, you will find yourself in the centre of the Simien Mountains National Park, one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. Spend some hiking in the park and spot some wildlife such as the endemic Gelada baboon that is found only in the park. We are returning to Gondar and will be flying back to Addis Ababa.
