Itinerary

Day 1:Addis Ababa - Jinka

When you arrive at Jinka airport, our vehicle will be waiting for you, and you will be able to drive to KeyAfar (if it is Thursday), where you can see the very colorful Benna, Hammer, Tsemay and Erbore people markets. Take a trip to Turmi and see the colorful Dimeka village of the Hammer people.

If you are fortunate, you may be able to see one of their dances, the Evangadi, which was invented by the hammer girls and boys to dance under the moonlight. Turmi is also known for its bull jumping ceremony, which marks the transition from childhood to adulthood for hammer boys. If you are interested in staying in a lodge with a double bed or if you would like to camp in Turmi, we offer both options.

Day 2:Jinka - Karo - Jinka

After breakfast, drive to Karo, or Kara, an ethnic group in Ethiopia known for their body painting. The tribe has an estimated population of 1.000 to 1.200 people, making them one of the smallest in the region. It is thought that they are closely related to their neighbors, Hamer and Banna, with a lexical similarity of 81%. They live along the east banks of the Omo River in southern Ethiopia and survive on agriculture and annual flooding.

They have had the same culture and traditions for 500 years, such as traditional dancing and painting their bodies with ash and fat. After the performance, we will take a lunch break in Turmi, then take a drive to Omorate. The Omo River is crossed by a traditional canoe (a recently built bridge now permits optional crossings by tour vehicles.). It is possible to visit another Omo tribe, the Dasanech, which is one of the more numerous tribes in the Omo (about 30,000 people). After we have finished, we will drive to Jinka. Overnight jinka resort.

Day 3Jinka - Mango Park - Jinka - Fly to Addis

Drive to the Mago National Park in the early morning to visit the Mursi people. Women from Mursi tribes are known for inserting clay plates into their lower lips. After we have completed our tour, we will drive back to Jinka Airport so that we can return to Addis Ababa and the tour ends.
